Cheer Practice, Games & Competitions

Head coaches determine the exact practice times. Practices are usually held at Sunset Park.  The days of the week vary according to the coach's schedule and the availability of indoor facilities. At the beginning of the season, Flag and Mitey Mite squads practice 2 to 3 days per week and Jr. Pee Wee - Varsity/Unlimited typically practice 4 to 5 days per week, and drop down to 2 - 3 practices per week when school starts. Competitive squads will also start practicing on the full cheer floor at an available gym, one to two days per week at the end of September or beginning of October as we gear up for the Palomar Competition.

Games typically begin the first week of September; there is a usually a pre-season game the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Once teams have been formed by the various associations, Conference will prepare and distribute schedules.  Once received,  we will post them on our web site under each team’s home page. In our experience, the schedules will be made available to us sometime in late August.

Many games are at our home fields, San Marcos High School or Mission Hills High School, and some game are away. Palomar tries to balance out the schedule so teams don't have many far away games. The other teams in Palomar Conference are located in Carlsbad, Escondido, Fallbrook, La Costa Canyon, Murrieta Valley, Oceanside, Poway, Ramona, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Penasquitos, Scripps Ranch, Temecula Valley, Torrey Pines, Valley Center, and Vista.  The schedule will list the locations of each game and the website will have links to maps and driving directions.  Some teams may elect to use alternate sites (like Shutterfly) to post game times and locations.
