Dear Athlete and Parent, We are honored to have
you and your parent(s) assigned to our team, the Barons! We will
be competing in the Pee Wee Division and are looking forward to both a
successful season and most importantly a positive experience. Many
volunteers from the SMPW Board of Directors have been working very hard
this past off-season to make 2008 the best year ever. These people
who work behind the scenes are the foundation that the program rests
upon. It's now time for you, as athletes, to start preparing
yourself for the upcoming season. The most important thing you can
do is to report on August 1st ready to work, learn and play. This
can be achieved by following the few suggestions below. 1 - Before
beginning your program, discuss what you are doing with a parent.
They will be able to help you get the most out of your efforts. 2 - As
an athlete, it is very important that you eat correctly and get plenty
of rest. 3 - I can't stress enough the need for you to drink plenty of
water! Not soft drinks, but water. 4 - Warming up and
flexibility exercises to prepare your muscles for the workouts and to
increase your range of motion is a must. 5 - After warming up, a good
running program for aerobic fitness as well as speed and agility is
important. 6 - It is time to put down the Game Boy and run in the
park, on the beach or around the block daily. By
coming in to camp on August 1st having prepared yourself, we will be
able to spend more time learning the systems and developing your skills.
We only have 28 athletes on our team, so it is therefore very important
hat each player is prepared to contribute. It will be the coaches'
responsibility to ensure we create an atmosphere that allows each player
to give of their best efforts. Working together we can make it happen!
It takes a large group of adults to allow our team to reach its
full potential. We still have openings on the Baron Coaching staff
and the Support Staff. We never turn anyone away who can help make
the season a success for the athletes. Join with your athlete in
the spirit of teamwork to help us reach our full potential. Please
email me if you can help support the team, no experience is necessary.
Contact me at the email address below and I will provide you with job
descriptions and a short application. Please check
the SMPW web page regularly as there is a great deal of information and
will answer most of the questions you may have. GO BARONS!
